Avagis is a Vine "seedling," an alien of the planet Loam who was disguised as a human child and left to be raised on Earth. The Vine implanted him with human DNA to make him identical to a baby they would steal and replace. Avagis was raised by the Visigoths in the 5th century. Eventually he would grow to discover his Vine heritage and commune with his people telepathically through the "Gathering."
