Bloodshot Memory Engrams are the artificial memories implanted into Bloodshot by Project Rising Spirit in order to rewrite his mind, and make him easier to control.
History[]
Primarily designed by Olga Strauss,[1] the Engrams were created in an attempt to better control the subjects of PRS's Bloodshot Program. Previous subjects simply had their memories erased, making them limited outside of combat, and hard to control. The first known Bloodshot to be subjected to the process was exposed to many, many memory files prior to going crazy and being destroyed. The second was the first Bloodshot to successfully have new memories implanted, and to this day thinks of himself with the name the file gave him.
List of Engrams[]
- Angelo Mortalli: A two-bit criminal who joined the mob, prior to being arrested. He was recruited by PRS from prison.[2]
- Vernon Krieg: A soldier who was mortally wounded in Afghanistan, PRS took him in to use nanites to heal his injuries.[1]
- Blood Moon: A nameless man who underwent "micro machina" experiments in the 19th century. After almost dying, he was woken up by PRS in the 21st century.[3]
- Michael Dolan: A police officer injured while on duty, brought back to fighting strength by nanites.[4]
- Michael Green: An astronaut who nearly died in a crash, brought back as Bloodshot.[4]
- Jake Huang: An athlete who turned to experimental nanite steroids in an attempt to master 3 different sports.[4]
- Richard Tate: An alcoholic serial killer whose brain was donated to science after he received the death penalty.[4] This was Bloodshot Rising Spirit's final engram before his termination.[5]
- Raymond Garrison: With a name apparently taken from a coder on the original engrams,[5] Ray Garrison was a soldier with a wife and child, and is the main engram associated with the Every Man Bloodshot. The Every Man has since adopted the name "Ray" as his own, despite being aware that it is not his true origin.[6][7][8]
Notes[]
- A similar concept appeared in the Bloodshot movie. In the film, Ray Garrison's handlers in Rising Spirit Technologies implanted him with memories of a fictional event where a terrorist cell killed his wife. This fake attack was led by one of RST's enemies, encouraging Ray to use his powers to assassinate them. After a mission was completed, RST would change the memory file slightly, removing the memories of the assassination and changing the leader to their next target.
