Ectotheric Energy is a thought-based energy that some may call magic but it really isn't magic, however, it isn't easy to control and master for the ordinary meat (human) either. The Malevs's hive-mind is based on such energy, everything they do and create is done through the energy, and without it they would cease to exist. Like the Spider Aliens feed on human (blood), the Malevs feed on the energy and "store" additional energy in the Ectotheric Pods.
