G.A.T.E., also known as the "Global Agency for Threat Excision", is a global organization dedicated to monitoring and responding to superhuman and alien threats. The Agency was formed from a restructuring of M.E.R.O. assets after the undercover agency was exposed during the Armor Hunters incident. Working with MI-6, G.A.T.E. became global, after M.E.R.O. was previously a United States-exclusive operation. Most assets and agents from M.E.R.O., including its leader Colonel Capshaw, were transferred to G.A.T.E.
