Joe Irons is a schizophrenic who was the only friend of Peter Stanchek, one of the world's most powerful Psiots. They met while both spending time in a psychiatric hospital, and later went on the run together. Irons was eventually murdered under the orders of Toyo Harada to manipulate Peter into joining the Harbinger Foundation. This incident lead Peter to rebel against Harada and form the Renegades.
