Captain Jonathan King was a captain of the Royal Navy during World War II and a special agent working for British Intelligence until the mid-1970 when he was murdered by Hideyoshi Iwatsu and the Shishi.

Jonathan King is the foster father of Colin King / Ninjak.

History[]

During World War II, Captain Jonathan King was a member of an elite team to infiltrate the Nazis' secret lab in Norway and sabotage their Project "Schwarz Tod" (engl. "Black Death"), preventing the Nazis from creating para-humans. After the war, King was part of Project Hope and Glory, this time trying to create the first super-human for British Intelligence and the British Empire, respectively.

He married Catherine Harland and took her to Tokyo where he was working at the British Embassy. When she got pregnant he gave her "Hope and Glory" injections telling her it would be regular vaccination. The baby was born premature but was healthy and full-term – not premature. Jonathan figured it wasn't his baby but from one of Catherine's affairs before they met, however, they "needed a bloody incubator" and "she needed a husband."

Soon after the birth, Colonel Neville Alcott wanted to take the baby back to England but Jonathan insisted on raising the baby in Japan. After all, he still loved Catherine and the baby who he named "Colin" after his real father, to further anger Neville. As a result of the "Hope and Glory" injections, Colin quickly developed into the smartest student, fastest athlete and most talented martial artist.

During Colin's childhood, Jonathan continued to be an agent for her Majesty's Secret Service, uncovering Hideyoshi Iwatsu's secret experiments – based on the Nazis' "Schwarz Tod" – at Musashi Labs in Osaka. When Iwatsu threatened to kill King and his son, Jonathan revealed that "Colin is a product of the Crown's genetic programme," trying to buy time and create a scene for Colin to escape. Jonathan was then murdered at the hands of Iwatsu's ronin, the Shishi. Eventually, Colin avenged his father's death by killing the Shishi.
