The Palisade is the orbital ring that is orbiting the Gyre. It consists of stranded spaceships, giant monoliths, and other space debris. The monoliths are used as intergalactic prison cells that are guarded by the Starwatchers. It is very difficult to escape the prison cells, the monoliths, and the entire orbital ring, especially since the energy of all the spaceships have been drained to feed the "vampire star" Gyre.
