Project Hope and Glory is two things – the Crown's effort to infiltrate and (successfully) sabotage the Nazis' "Schwarz Tod" project during World War II as well as the Crown's own genetic programme to create para-humans after the war.

Later on, the remaining "Hope and Glory" files, hidden below Canterbury Cathedral, get into the hands of both, Doctor Silk and Hideyoshi Iwatsu, too.

History[]

Jonathan King, Neville Alcott and their pregnant wives, Jessica Alcott and Catherine Harland, took special gene injections to improve the development of their unborn babies. Both babies were born healthy but only one is exceptionally talented.

Note: Because Jonathan isn't the biological father of Colin King, Catherine was given the injections when she was already pregnant. The Alcotts had taken the injections before fathering Jillian Alcott.

Quotes[]

Let's not play games, Jonathan. You seemed upset the day Colin was born, so I never questioned your decision to raise him here. The P.M. was less understanding, however. To save the project, I married Jessica and we took the "Hope and Glory" injections ourselves. We feel blessed to have Jillian. She's healthy and very bright, but not outwardly exceptional, as we'd hoped. -- We need a comparison subject-- Colin.
-- Neville Alcott
I'm not a chemist, Sir, but perhaps the effects of the injections are random, or even recessive. And as for Colin, I have cause to doubt your "genetic cocktail" had any effect on him...
-- Jonathan King
Just look at them. It was worth every gene injection to produce perfect, healthy babies.
-- Jessica Alcott
