Synopsis[]
Following the battle to save the rain forests of South Am, Rai and Magnus angrily face off over Rai's affair with Leeja. They put aside their differences to investigate Timbuc's death, but are attacked by a horde of Malevs. Driven to a berserker fury by Rai's ability to impose his emotions on others, the Future Force must force themselves to make a wise retreat.[1]
Notes[]
- The story is directly continued from Magnus, Robot Fighter #31 and the end of the previous crossover between the two series, The Battle for South Am, respectively.
Quotes[]
- You will do nothing! The fate of this planet hinges on the Rai! You, by comparison, are expendable!
- -- Spylocke
- Everyone-- stop this! Have you all gone mad?! Our enemies are out there-- we won a battle, not a war! Or did someone destroy the Malev Emperor while I wasn't paying attention?! And you two! You're supposed to lead this group! You set the standards-- and you two are bickering! Is this pettiness more important than saving all of humanity?!
- -- Leeja Clane
- Hm? Oh, sorry, Rai. I sense a great deal of malevolence focused towards us... towards me...
- -- Leeja Clane
- Me too. That's why we stopped for the souped-up gun sled. I feel better packing some firepower.
- -- Izak
- I think she meant from Magnus, Izak. He knows about...us, Leeja, but I don't know how...
- -- Rai
- Tekla, look -- we were sort of friends, weren't we? The Steel Nation took me when I was trying to find myself. Even then I sensed the attraction you felt for Magnus! Isn't that the real reason you told him about Rai and myself?
- -- Leeja Clane
- Perhaps. Logically, I am the better choice for him. He has always been more comfortable with robots than humans. And --unlike a human-- I would be steadfast in my feelings.
- -- Tekla
- Feelings?! What do you know about feelings, you cast-iron...!
- -- Leeja Clane
- Magnus! Just because you feel nothing, don't fault others who do! You know, I used to make a lot of excuses for you! After all, you were raised by a robot! But I am sick of it! You don't deal well with real people! I sometimes think you have more emotions than a Servo-Rob--and you certainly don't express them! But that doesn't give you the right to demean those who do feel genuine emotions!
- -- Leeja Clane
- My friends think I am a threat to them-- but I am a far greater threat to you, Malevs! Face my steel! Face my anger! I swear-- there shall be no quarter until you or I are dead! -- HRAI!
