Ray Garrison was a blind software programmer, who worked on a contract for Project Rising Spirit, developing code for their Bloodshot experiments. When one such experiment went AWOL, Garrison was drafted to develop code to shut him down, becoming the only survivor of the slaughter.

- The name "Ray Garrison" is also shared with the modern Bloodshot. Due to this Bloodshot also having his memories altered, it has been implied that it is not his true name, suggesting that the identity was likely named after the real Ray.[1]
