- Vern Tessio, the child who appears selling lemonade, is a character from Stephen King's short story The Body. In the film adaptation Stand By Me he is played by actor Jerry O'Connell, who of course plays Quinn Mallory on Sliders. Tessio calls himself "The Penny King of Castle Rock" referencing a location in many of King's stories.
