Torque, also known by his full name John Torkelson, is a member of the superhero team known as the Renegades. They are a group of young Harbingers who battle the evil Toyo Harada and his Harbinger Foundation. Prior to Peter Stanchek activating his powers, Torkelson was a spindly handicapped boy who could barely walk. He spent most of his time lying in bed, fantasizing about a dream reality called Torquehalla. His powers allow him to create a psionic energy shell, making him appear huge and muscular and handsome as he does in Torquehalla. This shell also includes enhanced abilities such as superhuman strength and invulnerability.
