I am TUROK. In the language of my nation, the Saquins, that means to be a son of stone. A defender of land, a protector of Earth. From what, you're asking? From the threats that keep coming out of a place called the Lost Land. If you think of all time and space like water in a bathtub, then the Lost Land is made up of what gets caught in the drain filter. Dinosaurs, dinosoids, aliens, monsters, lions and tigers and bears, oh my.

Synopsis[]

Notes[]

  • This comic book story was published in March, 1997, however it is preceded by Turok: The Empty Souls #1Acclaim Comics' first Turok publication – that has a cover date of April, 1997, but was already released in December, 1996. Oddly, the image on the back cover advertising the Turok comic book is taken from The Empty Souls.
  • "The Way of the Warrior" was only published inside the "Instruction Booklet" of the Collector's Edition of the video game Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (March, 1997 – N64 version).
  • The story is fourteen pages long plus the title/credits page and is written and illustrated by the same creative team of the Turok Quarterly series.
  • The cover is the front cover of the game's instruction booklet. There is no additional inside cover.

Quotes[]

My name is Joshua Fireseed, college baseball hotshot, a few months back, my Uncle Carl kicked the bucket, before he shuffled, he gave me an ancient satchel. He called it the Light Burden. He told me it was my responsibility. He told me I would need it to survive. He told me a lot of things. The bag was empty inside -- I thought -- until I discovered the truth.

Now, I'm supposed to be keeping us safe from all that it's my job. The eldest born male in every generation of Fireseeds is responsible for being a Turok. The family business pretty much sucks, huh? Oh well, as Uncle Carl said, "it's a living -- and a dying..."

You are one of the most interesting... Turoks I have ever met, Joshua -- and you have the potential to be one of the best!
